Some stats on the book release

Published by Oleander Craw in writing Share

The DEVOURING FORTUNE e-book still isn't available on Amazon. I got an email this morning that they took issue with the keywords I used (without specifically stating what the issue was). So I changed these up and emailed them back asking for clarification. Hoping that this resolves the issue and the e-book will be available there by the end of this week, but we'll see.

It's been really important to me to ensure I'm divested from this retailer for many reasons, and my experience so far only confirms to me that I've made the correct choice.

In other news, I wanted to share some stats following the release. I try not to think too much on the actual sales numbers, because I think this is a good way to spend too much energy on not writing books. But I did take a peek at a few things, and was delighted by what I saw.

Libro.fm rank showing #2467 overall and #162 in LGBTQIA+ Fiction

DEVOURING FORTUNE is close to the top 100 for LGBTQIA+ fiction across all of Libro.FM and ranked in the top 2500 of audiobooks overall. This is amazing! People are listening to the audiobook! Also Avi Roque is an incredible narrator, so I'm thrilled their work on this book is being appreciated.

And then something unexpected, which was a total delight to see as well yesterday:

Screenshot from Ingramspark showing the hardcover for Devouring Fortune is #217 in Dark Fantasy and the paperback is #98 in Dark Fantasy

These are the sales ranks for the hardcover and paperback versions of DEVOURING FORTUNE through IngramSpark, my print book distributor. This means my book is being bought and sold by bookstores! The paperback is ranked in the top 100 of dark fantasy sales! I knew this somewhat, given a bookstore tagged me in a post this week with my book on display, but it's still so lovely to see the bookstore interest.

Go support your local indie bookstore, y'all. They're ensuring all sorts of stories are out in the world.

FOCUS: Today my goal was to get through as much of Chapter 4 of MAGE WILLOW as possible. I wrote a total of 1,147 words this morning, mostly finishing an entire new scene. The words are continuing to come fairly easy drafting this second book. It's been such a joy to come back to Maxwell's story.

I decided to call it around 11am when I realized my brain was feeling a little mushy. It's been really important to me to be gentle with myself this week and avoid burnout.

PROCESS & SUCH: Decided to lurk at my favorite coffee shop to focus on drafting, which I attribute somewhat to the success in writing I saw this morning. There's something about writing at a coffee shop that helps me to stay focused and get a lot done.

I'd really like to try to get at least a chapter done a week moving forward, now that DEVOURING FORTUNE has launched. This would put me in really good shape for the first draft of MAGE WILLOW to be wrapped up right around when the campaign for THE WARDS WILL FALL begins.

I'm also going to have to split my time with STORMFORKS at some point soon here.

WATCHING: We started watching the TV show, Widow's Bay, yesterday. I found the first 2 episodes very fun and then Apple TV decided to shit the bed so we stopped for the night. Honestly probably for the best. As much as I love to binge tv shows, I retain them better if I savor an episode or two at a time.

LISTENING: My friend sent me a music video of Maybe I'm Not That Alright by Palebloom, and that synth sax hook at the beginning is sooo good.

READING: I finished THE ERSTWHILE TYLER KYLE by Steve Hugh Westenra yesterday (Kobo, Amazon, Barnes&Noble). Overall an enjoyable read! There were a few things I was fuzzy on, but the back half of the book was hard to put down. Deciding what to pick up next.

LINK: Going to shamelessly plug my Kickstarter campaign today. If you haven't already signed up to follow the campaign for THE WARDS WILL FALL, go hit that 'Notify Me On Launch' button. You also get a sneak peek of some of the campaign art that'll be part of rewards on the prelaunch page... :)

UP NEXT: Tomorrow I'd like to wrap up this scene and make good headway into the next scene of Chapter 4 of MAGE WILLOW, if not finish the chapter completely.
