So close to done with this chapter

Heyyyyy we made it to October! This is my second favorite time of year (though it a close call honestly) after late May/early June. I love living in a more northern state because I get to actually experience a fall season - the leaves changing, a crisp sharpness to the air, apple picking... IMPENDING HALLOWEEN TIME. Yeah!

FOCUS: I really wanted to get Chapter 2 done today. I failed, but that's okay. I'm super close. I got about 800 words done today which I thought was great, given I drafted much slower today than I have been (the curse of marveling at my speed recently).

Chapter 2 is almost done. It's so close. And then I will need to polish a bit and put in some names and these opening chapters will be ready to go.

PROCESS & SUCH: sprints! 30 minutes each, my normal standard. I found myself getting what I think of as word paralysis, where I focus too much on the amount of words I'm actually writing and then end up not writing anything as a result. When I tell myself any amount of words are fine in a sprint is when I realize I can actually focus and... Actually get more done.

Sprinting was interrupted by another medical appointment this afternoon, and I can never get any writing done after that, so the afternoon was basically a wash. Tomorrow my entire day is free so I'm hoping I can make some really good progress.

WATCHING: Continuing to watch Real House Wives Rhode Island. This is really scratching my need for some sloppy reality TV.

LISTENING: I'm currently obsessed with the Control Resonant songs. I played these on repeat all day.

READING: Trying to decide what I want to read next. There's a few books I really want to read but they not in Kobo Plus, Overdrive or available from my library, and I'm not in a spot to drop money on a book at the moment. Which is fine! Because I have so many books on my shelf that are begging to be read.

LINK: This blog post from Ursula Le Guin about genre expectations. Thinking about this quote about authors:

"And never for one moment do they “lose their way.” They may mislead you — confuse you, even lose you — but they know where they’re going, and if you stick with them you’ll find out where it is."

UP NEXT: I'm going to do it. Chapter 2 is mine tomorrow.
