This week is heavy on the medical appointments, so I'm really hoping I don't find all that too disruptive. This is also (hopefully) the last day of rain for awhile as the nor'easter blows through. It's been raining and gusting steadily since Friday evening, and while I love a good cozy rain storm the constant dreariness is starting to get to me.
This weekend I got a decent amount of writing done, but less than I would like because... I caved and got Control Resonant. WHOOPS.
FOCUS: Today's focus was Chapter 2 of Mageruins. I'm just about done with it, and managed to write 508 words today. That was over 2 sprints in the morning, disrupted by a physical therapy appointment. After that I didn't get any writing done, and I have to admit, it was entirely because I went on to play Control Resonant.
So far the writing on this book is going really quickly. Sometimes it's a struggle for me to draft, and I go very slowly. I'm getting about 250 words done per 30 minute sprint, which is fairly quick for me at the moment. All in all, it's been SO nice to come back to Maxwell's story after so many years.
PROCESS & SUCH: Trusty Sprinto, two 30 minute sprints and Scrivener. I'm really finding that early mornings are my best writing time and I get a lot done on sprints. If I don't sprint, I tend to get distracted and my attention spirals out...and then before I know it, hours have passed and I have done nothing.
PLAYING: Changing this up a bit. I'm currently playing Control Resonant by Remedy Games. Control is one of my absolute favorite games, so to say I was excited they were creating a sequel is an understatement.
So far Control Resonant is fascinating and fun, though so far the story doesn't appear to be as deep. The open world format feels a little more shallow, and the characters aren't quite hitting for me. That said, Dylan is my favorite part so far. His character is fantastic. I'm also loving the gameplay.
LISTENING: Today's song is Curicó, by Kiltro. Kiltro is one of my favorite bands, Chilean shoegaze with a haunting, creepy tone. I have two vinyls from this band, and I love to put their music on as I do chores around the house. They're also on a lot of my playlists, because...I just love their music.
READING: I finished reading Night's Master, by Tanith Lee (Bookshop, Kobo, Amazon). WHEW, THIS BOOK. I've mentioned before that Tanith Lee continues to impress me. Her writing is lyrical, dark, gorgeous and wonderous. This book in particular, felt like a book of dark fairy tales. I loved how everything wrapped together, winding around the central character, the prince of demons.

UP NEXT: Tomorrow I am actually appearing on a podcast! I'll talk more about it tomorrow. I've never been on a podcast, so I admit I am a little anxious, but also excited. I think it's going to be a good time.
