Here come the muscle mommies

Published by Oleander Craw in writing Share

Today's image inspired by the nerve conduction study I had to do today which confirmed that, as I suspected, there was nerve damage to my ulnar nerve following my elbow injury in June. I wish it was better by now, but I guess that's just how nerve injuries go. I also started physical therapy again for my elbow today, so between those two things, it kind of ate deeply into my normal writing time.

I commissioned some more art for DEVOURING FORTUNE, this time of Daryifel and Ahtefani from komorebi.art_ on instagram.

This one is for all the muscle mommy appreciators <3

FOCUS: Chapter 4!! Not making the progress I would like to on it this week, due to appointments and such. But all in all, I was able to do two writing sprints this morning for a total of an hour of writing time. I got 309 words done during this time period, which is a little slow for me (to be honest, I was pretty anxious about the nerve study).

PROCESS & SUCH: I am continuing to try to focus on writing time versus writing amount to avoid burnout. If I overfocus on actual wordcount I tend to run into trouble in myself where I focus too strongly on that. I also think I might need to kick Puck out of my office in the morning. She likes to snuggle next to my laptop as I write and has been getting increasingly insistent on trying to sprawl onto my latop. It's really cute! But also...it makes it really hard and awkward to write around her. And I really want to try to focus on getting words done.

WATCHING: I started rewatching Parks & Rec while doing my puzzle. I like to have background noise of something I have seen before because I need something to tune out while I focus. It also makes a great laundry show for the same reason.

LISTENING: Continuing to listen to all my songs on random to build my MAGE WILLOW playlist!

READING: A few chapters into THE SPACE BETWEEN WORLDS by Micaiah Johnson (Kobo, Bookshop, Amazon, Waterstones). The writing is gorgeous and reading at a coffee shop for a little bit before my procedure today was very soothing.

LINK: I tend to link to a lot of Dorian Dawes blog posts, but that's because I think they have a really pointed analysis of horror and the publishing industry that I enjoy. Today's link is Dorian's recent post about how horror needs to be horror.

UP NEXT: Tomorrow I plan to focus on Chapter 4. I would really like to get this done, but we shall see!
